AEA training focuses on the complex interplay between ‘protected characteristics’ and the ‘single-sex exception’, as defined in the Equality Act.
Participation in these 3hr workshops is limited to a maximum of 12, in order to maximise individual engagement.

‘Balancing Rights and The Single-Sex Exception’
Because of an inherent potential for conflicts of interest between protected characteristics, achieving a fair balance of rights is complex. The application or non-application of the ‘Single-sex exception’ can be especially contentious.
Includes group-work, with scenarios to explore complexities and resolutions.
Attendees will:
- Gain a clear understanding of current law
- Learn to fairly balance the rights of protected characteristics
- Understand the single-sex exception
- Be equipped to promote inclusion and mitigate discord
